Old Lyme High School Presents
The Official Braiden Sunshine Hawaii Fundraiser
Old Lyme High School is proud to be the only school from
Connecticut — and one of two from New England — that will be performing at the
75th Anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor, on December 7, 2016 in Hawaii.
High School musicians from around the country and Japan will come together on
the decks of the USS Missouri to commemorate the events that brought the United
States into World War II. It was on the Battleship Missouri, in Tokyo Bay in
September 1945, that the papers of surrender were signed by representatives of
the Allied and Axis powers — formally ending the war. The Missouri is now
docked in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii as a permanent memorial, providing the bookend
to the story of the bombing on December 7, 1941 that launched US involvement in
the war. LOLHS Chorus and Band members are busy preparing for this performance,
and members of the Friends of Music of Lyme–Old Lyme Schools are
busy working to raise funds to help defray the cost of sending our
student musicians to this historic event!
